Custom One-Off Participant Messaging

While Mentor Collective provides comprehensive, automated participant messaging throughout the mentorship program, programs can choose to supplement that messaging by sending additional program-specific one-off email and/or text messages through Mentor Collective's platform.

Messaging Recipients

Do you want to message all participants? Only mentors? Only participants who have logged 3+ conversations? Only a specific list of participants that you provide? You can do it all! Let your Mentor Collective representative know who you would like to receive the one-off message, and we will be sure to include only the eligible participants.

As always, we will not email or text any participant who has unsubscribed from that communication medium.

Messaging Timing

You have the capability to send custom one-off messaging in coordination with Mentor Collective’s standard, automated participant messaging. What does this mean? Custom one-off messaging will be “slotted” into existing communication, depending on the priority of the message. This will ensure that participants do not receive more than one message per day, and generally avoid overcommunication.

However, if you would like to send a message to all recipients at the same time or on a specific day, this can also be accommodated.

Please send any custom one-off message requests to Partner Support (partnersupport@mentorcollective.org) at least one week in advance.

Common One-Off Messages

Programs may wish to send one-off messages for a wide variety of uses. The most common requests typically include general reminders, program interventions, or participant support.

General Reminders

Custom one-off messaging can serve as reminders that relay important programmatic or institutional information to participants. This may include, but is not limited to: information about upcoming events or opportunities, links to RSVP for events, feedback requests, or reminders about important dates or deadlines.

Program Interventions

Custom one-off messaging can serve as interventions that encourage participants to engage in desired behaviors within the program. This may include, but is not limited to, messaging to increase: participant registration, mentor training completion, conversation logging, or assessment survey completion.

Participant Support

Custom one-off messaging can serve as support for mentors or mentees who may need additional assistance or encouragement. This may include, but is not limited to: new institutional resource announcements, reminders about existing support options, or words of encouragement during difficult times.

Limitations

Mentor Collective messaging allows for the majority of standard communication capabilities, but the platform does not support including attachments to email messages or images in text messages. In addition, a specific individual cannot be CC’d on all emails.
