Admin Approval For Outlook Connection

Your organization may require administrator consent before third-party applications can access Microsoft data. In these cases, when an app requests access to your mailbox, calendar, or contacts, an administrator must approve those permissions first.

Are You Impacted?

This only applies to organizations using Microsoft Outlook for calendar integration. You can quickly determine whether admin approval is required by testing the calendar connection:

  1. Receive the participant registration link(s) from your Mentor Collective representative.
  2. Navigate through the participant registration flow.
  3. When prompted, attempt connecting the platform with your Outlook calendar.

If your calendar connects successfully, no further action is needed.

If you see a “Need admin approval” or “Approval required” message, continue to the steps below to grant admin consent.

Granting Admin Consent

If you are a Microsoft administrator — or are working with your IT team:

Step 1: Sign in to the Admin Center

  1. Go to the Microsoft Entra admin center
  2. Sign in with a Global Administrator or Application Administrator account.

Step 2: Locate the Application

There are two options:

  • Option A: The App Already Exists in Enterprise Applications

If an attempt to connect has occurred, the app should already exist in Enterprise Applications.

    1. Navigate to:  Identity → Applications → Enterprise applications
    2. Select All applications
    3. Search for the application name.
    4. Open the application.
  • Option B: The App Does NOT Appear Yet

If no one has attempted to connect yet, the app may not exist in Enterprise Applications.

    In that case:

    1. Attempt to connect your calendar and go through Option A

      OR

    2. Manually add the app from the app gallery.
      • Application: Mentor Collective
      • Organization: Shearwater International Inc.

Once the app appears, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Grant Admin Consent

  1. Inside the application, go to Permissions.
  2. Review the requested permissions.
  3. Click Grant admin consent for [Your Organization].
  4. Confirm the action.

This grants approval and prevents future users from seeing the approval prompt.
