Dashboard Page - Program Intelligence Chart

The large chart you’ll see at the top of your Dashboard homepage is the Program Intelligence Chart. This powerful data visualization tool allows you to easily view time series data for over 10 different data points, broken out by various populations, within a custom timeframe.

Where Does This Data Come From?

The population data used in the Program Intelligence Chart will default to pulling any data your institution has provided (via the Institution Provided Data feature). For participants who have no institution provided data in the data point selected, you will instead see data the participant has self-reported (generally from matching surveys) in this program or a previous program.

If no data has been provided for that participant, this will show as "Not specified."

Program Intelligence Chart Features

At the top of the Program Intelligence Chart, you’ll see the following controls:

  • Date Rage - enter a custom date range.
  • Data Sum - choose to sum data by Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
  • Mentor & Mentee tabs - select whether to view mentor or mentee data.
  • Data point - choose which data point to view.
    • Example: Invited, Registered, Matched, etc.
  • Population - leave as the default “All” option, or choose an item from the dropdown menu to break down your data according to different population measures.
    • Example: Gender, Language, etc.
  • Metric - select whether to view the data as Numbers or Percent.
    • The “Percent” option will automatically calculate the percentage of participants who have made it through the previous step of the funnel. As such it is only available and relevant for certain data points.
  • Export to CSV - download a CSV file of the data you have selected in the chart.

Note: The data available in the data point and population dropdowns vary by program design.

You can also further drill down specific populations, but clicking on the legend items at the bottom of the Program Intelligence chart to show / hide various lines on the graph.

Example Use Case

Situation: Let’s say that you want to learn more about the total number of mentees who have registered for your program in the last 30 days, and you want to see this data broken out by gender. To do this, you would take the following steps:

  • Set the Data Point dropdown to “Registered”
  • Set the Population dropdown to “Gender”
  • Set the Metrics dropdown to “Numbers”
  • Adjust the start and end date entry points to represent the last 30 days

You should now see a line chart with lines of different colors, each one representing a different gender option. The x-axis on your chart should represent the last 30 days, and the y-axis should represent the number of mentees who have registered for your program.

FAQ

How do the race categories work in the “population” dropdown in the Program Intelligence Chart?

  • The race data found in the population dropdown in the Program Intelligence Chart is based on either Institution Provided Data, or self-reported information from participants’ matching surveys.
  • Please note, participants may identify with more than one race. This means a single participant may show up under more than one category on this chart. For this reason, the total number of all the breakout lines in this chart may be higher than the true number of the mentees/mentors in your program.

Why is some data grouped into “Everything else” on the Program Intelligence chart?

  • The Program Intelligence Chart will only show the top 7 attributes for a program, in order to keep the chart readable and avoid an overwhelming amount of data. All other data will be grouped under “Everything else.”
