Dashboard Page - Participant Traits Tab

On the Dashboard homepage, the Participant Traits tab provides you with several graphs related to the traits of your participants: mentees’ goals and top matching requests, as well as a breakdown of the race and gender for all participants.

Mentee Goals Chart

The Mentee Goals chart summarizes the total number of mentees who have selected a goal for their mentorship. In the matching survey, mentees are asked to answer the following (or a similar) question: "What is one goal you'd like your mentor to help with in this mentorship?”. Their selection is called a “mentee goal.”

This chart has the following controls:

  • Metric - select whether to view the data as Numbers or Percent
  • View Specific Participants - click on a bar, and you will be rerouted to the Participants page, pre-filtered to participants that have selected that specific goal

Note: The goals that mentees are able to choose from in their matching survey vary by program design. Review your matching survey to see the goals available for your program. Mentee goals are not customizable at this time.

The Mentee Goals chart provides insight into what your mentees are looking to achieve within and beyond their mentorship. With this information, institutions have the ability to both spot trends that can inform program design or strategy, and drill down into specific participants who may benefit from more specific, targeted support or resources.

How Can I Use These Insights?

Mentees’ Top Matching Criterion Chart

The Mentees’ Top Matching Criterion chart summarizes the total number of mentees who have selected a preference in a mentor with a specific criterion or skill. In the matching survey, mentees are asked to answer the following question: "Out of the preferences you just shared, which is the most important to you?”. Their selection is called a “top matching criterion.”

This chart has the following controls:

  • Metric - select whether to view the data as Numbers or Percent
  • View Specific Participants - click on a bar, and you will be rerouted to the Participants page, pre-filtered to participants that have selected that specific matching preference

The Mentees’ Top Matching Criterion chart provides valuable insight into what is most important to your mentees. Partners can utilize this information to better understand mentees’ needs and, if necessary, and make adjustments to the recruitment or matching process.

Participant Gender & Race Pie Charts

The Participant Gender and Race pie charts provide the distribution of gender and race for mentors and mentees, respectively, in your program.

This chart has the following controls:

  • Metric - select whether to view the data as Numbers or Percent
    • The distribution will remain the same, but the metric displayed when you hover over a slice of the chart will be adjusted.
  • View Specific Participants - click on a bar, and you will be rerouted to the Participants page, pre-filtered to participants that have selected that specific matching preference

Note: Participants can select more than one race if they choose. Therefore, one participant may be represented under multiple categories, or races, in each race pie chart. In addition, these charts will only display the top 8 options selected by users. All other responses are included in the "Everything else" slice.

The Gender and Race pie charts give you an easy data visualization to track key participant demographics for your program. It may be particularly helpful for institutions targeting specific populations, to monitor and ensure progress towards those goals.

Where Does This Data Come From?

The data used in the Gender and Race pie charts will default to pulling any data your institution has provided (via the Institution Provided Data feature). For participants who have no institution provided data in the data point selected, the Dashboard will instead show data the participant has self-reported (generally from matching surveys) in this program or a previous program.

If there is no data for that participant, this will show as "No data provided."

FAQ

How do the race categories work in Mentor and Mentee Race pie charts? The numbers don’t match the number of participants in my program.

  • Participants may identify with more than one race.
  • These race pie charts provide the total number of races reported, not the total number of participants. Therefore, one participant may be represented under multiple categories.
