Flags are a crucial component of participant insights in the Partner Dashboard, and you can configure flags to best fit the needs of your program and institution.
Flag Topics
Standard Flag Topics
When submitting a flag, mentors are asked to categorize the flag under one or more “flag topics” to give you an idea of what the mentee is struggling with (ex: Academic Struggles, Financial Concerns, etc.).
Standard flag topics vary slightly by program design; you can review standard flag topics here. Alternatively, you can see which flag topics are available for your specific program by any of the following methods:
- Clicking on the “Flags” page in the left hand navigation of your Partner Dashboard
- Clicking the “Filter Flags” button above the table
- Opening the “Topics flagged” filter
Relabeling & Hiding Flag Topics
Once you identify the flag topics for your program, you can choose to relabel and/or hide any flag topic(s) in order to better fit your program. Your Mentor Collective representative can make these adjustments.
These configurations need to take place prior to when matching begins.
| Standard Flag | Relabeled Flag |
| “Considering Switching Majors” → | “Unsure About Major” |
| “Depression” → | “Mental Health” |
Flag Email Recipients
When an immediate priority flag is reported, an email will be automatically sent to all of the predetermined flag recipients tied to your program to alert them about the flag. Adjustments can be made to flag recipients in the following ways:
Primary Flag Recipient
The primary flag recipient will be emailed when any flag is reported, regardless of the participant or flag topic. This individual’s First Name, Last Name, and Email will need to be provided during program set up.
Assigned Advisor Recipient
If mentees have assigned advisors, those advisors can receive flags submitted specifically for participants in their caseload. You will need to provide the Advisor First Name, Last Name, and Email as Institution Provided Data, along with Participant Directory Information.
Flag Recipient by Topic
Mentor Collective's platform also provides the capability to email other program administrators, colleagues, or support staff only when a particular flag topic is reported. For example, you may want all “Financial Concerns” flags to be sent to a specific individual in the Financial Aid Office, or a general support email for financial aid. This individual’s First Name, Last Name, and Email will need to be provided during program set up.
Flag Communication Preferences
Because flags are so valuable to you and your participants, the system is set up to ensure this information is promptly shared and addressed. Mentor Collective’s platform will, by default
- Send an email to flag recipients for both priority and non-priority flags.
- Send a monthly reminder email to flag recipients to review all pending flags.
- Show mentors the flags action status for any of their flags reported.
However, if any of these do not align with your program needs, please reach out to your Mentor Collective representative to make adjustments.
FAQ
❓My program had hidden a flag topic, but I still see it on the Partner Dashboard. Is it not hidden?
- We apologize for this confusion! You will still see hidden flag topics in your Partner Dashboard, but rest assured, mentors will not see that flag topic as an option.
