Mentor Collective’s platform is designed to accommodate different program designs and populations. Throughout the mentorship program, the following terms are used regularly and can be relabeled to best fit your program:
- Mentor
- Mentee
- Student
- School
- Mentorship
These terms appear and can be automatically relabeled in the: Partner Dashboard, Participant Dashboard, matching surveys, post-session surveys, and participant and partner messaging.
Why Should My Program Relabel These Terms?
You certainly don’t need to; you are welcome to use Mentor Collective’s standard language!
However, there are some instances where it may make sense to relabel terms to better align with language your institution and participants are familiar with, or to provide more specificity.
For example, perhaps your institution uses Student Ambassadors as mentors, and you want to reference their existing role. You may choose to relabel “Mentor” as “Ambassador” to increase alignment and understanding for your program administrators and participants.
While you can relabel these terms at any time, we recommend making a decision prior to inviting participants, to avoid any confusion. Talk with your Mentor Collective representative if this is a customization that interests you.
