We’re thrilled to announce our newest product enhancement: ✨Conversation Sparks, designed to unlock the full value of mentorship through more meaningful, engaged connections.
What It Does
With this new feature, we deliver:
- Personalized Support. Using matching survey data, conversation prompts are tailored to each participant, providing an individualized experience at scale with the help of AI.
- Increased Engagement. This feature is designed to alleviate the number one barrier to an engaged mentorship: not knowing what to say.
- Better Outcomes. Further fostering meaningful connections leads directly to the outcomes you value most: from higher education persistence and belonging to strong employee retention and skill development.
How It Works
Here's a closer look at how Conversation Sparks facilitates these connections. The feature generates personalized questions to help participants begin their first conversation. The prompts are tailored to each unique mentor-mentee pair, ensuring relevance and encouraging meaningful dialogue.
There are two types of Conversation Sparks:
- Coffee Sparks (☕): Icebreaker-style questions designed to help participants get to know each other on a personal level.
- Rocket Sparks (🚀): Goal-oriented questions that kickstart conversations about a mentee's goals and a mentor's experiences.
Three conversation prompts are always available on the participant dashboard, with a total of 10 suggestions available to cycle through.
Interacting With Conversation Sparks
Participants can interact with Conversation Sparks in several ways:
- Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down: Provide direct feedback to Mentor Collective to help us iterate and improve the quality of the Sparks. For a limited time after release, users will have the opportunity to provide additional written feedback after clicking the thumbs up or down icons.
- Bookmark: Bookmark a Spark to save for future references. Bookmarks Sparks are pinned to the top of the list and will always be visible.
- View More: Cycle through the 10 pre-generated Conversation Sparks.
Access & Eligibility
Both mentors and mentees will have access to Conversation Sparks if they meet the following criteria:
- They were matched in a mentorship (as of September 9, 2025).
- Both participants completed a matching survey in the program.
- Their program was not opted-out of Conversation Sparks by an administrator.
Participants in mentorships where one or both parties did not complete a matching survey will not have access to personalized Sparks.
Sparks are generated almost instantaneously when a match is made.
Driving Usage
To encourage the use of Conversation Sparks, program participants will receive customized matching SMS and post-match email campaigns. These messages will prompt participants to log in and view their Conversation Sparks to help them initiate their first conversation with confidence.
