Participant Assessment Surveys

Your Mentor Collective program includes research-backed surveys administered to mentors and mentees to gather insights that ensure efficacy at your institution.  

Mentor Collective's platform provides the opportunity to formally assess participants at multiple stages throughout the program through research-backed surveys that gather information about students’ perceptions and progress. By utilizing these assessment surveys, you will be able to make data-driven decisions to better support your students and institution. 

What Do the Assessment Surveys Measure?

The questions on these assessment surveys come from peer-reviewed, published scales that are intentionally designed to assess participant perceptions at key times in the program cycle. 

Surveys include questions about the participant’s experience in the mentorship, in addition to relevant non-cognitive success factors shown to be closely connected to better retention rates, melt rates, higher academic success, and positive career outcomes.

Areas of assessment vary slightly by program design, in order to best assess the outcomes intended for that design. Review assessment areas by program design below.

Timing - When to Send Surveys

While assessment survey timing varies slightly based on a program’s design, participants will generally be sent three assessment surveys:

• Start of program assessment survey
• Middle of program assessment survey
• End of program assessment survey

Surveys are typically sent according to the program timeline (i.e. the start of program survey is sent when the program begins). 

However, we recognize that each campus is unique and will have their own needs - and for this reason, assessment survey timing is flexible and can be administered based on your schedule and when you’ll find the most value from the data. Please work with your Mentor Collective representative to find the best time to launch each survey.

Recipients - Who Receives Surveys

Assessment survey recipients vary slightly depending on the program design, participant type,  type of assessment survey, and participant program status. Generally:

• Registered participants* will receive the start of program survey.
• Matched participants* will receive the middle and end of program surveys. 

*Mentors may not receive assessment surveys, depending on the program design. 

Participants receive up to three messages (1 email, 2 text messages) from Mentor Collective automated messaging over 1 week, reminding them to complete the survey. Once a participant has completed the survey, they will no longer receive messaging. 

FAQ

❓Can my program customize our assessment survey?

• You can choose which assessment survey is best for your program’s intended outcomes, goals, and reasons for collaboration but, beyond this, you cannot make changes to the assessment surveys. Each survey is informed by prior research and factor analyses, and is not customizable at this time.
• You may be interested in our microsurvey feature for any additional assessment needs.

❓Where can I review assessment data?

• You can review Assessment data on your Partner Dashboard, on the “Dashboard” page under the “Assessment” tab and on your “Exports” page.
